Jeff Vankooten, MDiv served as a member of the IDA Board of Directors from February 2012 through July 2017. Jeff has worked in a variety of vocations expanding his relevance for today’s unique world. He is a professional speaker, content creator, and consultant on resilience empowering people to live and lead lives that thrive. He has almost 20 years of experience speaking from the platform and has keynoted more than 100 events. Jeff has traveled the country giving keynotes for a wide variety of public and private organizations in virtually every arena, from the tech sector to financial services, manufacturing, real estate, health care, hospitality, entertainment, retail, legal, and the US government.
Recognized for his ability to deliver powerfully focused and influential presentations, Jeff is regularly sought out by corporate, non-profit, and government leaders to help develop strategic messaging and content for presentations to audiences all over the world. Always keeping a sharp eye on the future, his work reflects his broad experience as an innovator, trendsetter, communicator, and entrepreneur.
He has authored four books; Greatalk! Pithy Pieces of Advice for Astonishingly Effective Presentations, You are who you were when: Understanding our Generational Personalities, Bounce Back and Thrive: Engaging Fear and succeeding in a shaken world and Adrenaline Rush: Navigate the Tumultuous Rapids of Change. He is a member of the National Speakers Association, an international organization for professional speakers.
Currently, Jeff is a Chaplain for Brookdale Hospice as well as a senior consultant for Steve Tonkin and Company serving caregivers to discover their unique style of caring. He is also a senior consultant for the Center for Generational Studies, as well as an executive coach for some of the best communicators in the country. In addition, Jeff is a lead facilitator for Dynamic Communicators Workshops for the past 20 years.
Living with bipolar most of my life, I found great camaraderie at IDA as well as believing in its mission and the leadership of Wayne Connell. It’s making a huge difference in my life as I navigate the world with an invisible disability.
Jeff graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; a Bachelors of Arts in Communications; and a Master’s Degree in Theology from Denver Seminary where he was chosen as one of the top five speakers in his class. He has been married over 20 years, has three children, one in college, two in high school. He is a native of Denver, Colorado and is, believe it or not, 100% Dutch.
