
Jillian Pritchard Cooke has been selected to be the 2018 recipient of the Invisible Disabilities® Association’s Healthy Living Award. Jillian has been chosen based upon her leadership as the founder of Wellness Within Your Walls – WWYW. Jillian’s focus, as a cancer survivor and world class designer, in providing education through WWYW on building and designing healthier interior environments has created life changing solutions for people who live daily with illness and disability.
Wellness Within Your Walls, a health and wellness company that aims to connect the global family with healthy, eco-sensitive products that result in sustainable, non-toxic interior environments. To simplify this process for consumers and industry professionals, WWYW certifies: People, Places, Programs, and Products. WWYW is working closely with developers, home builders, architects, and interior designers around the world to drastically reduce toxins in the interior environment. Presently, WWYW is working on case study homes in all regions of the US, as well as several in the UK and EU.
Jillian has authored numerous articles that specifically deal with reducing harmful toxins. She presently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Sustainable Furnishings Council and an NAHB Sustainable and Green Committee Board Member. Jillian is a frequent speaker with many global trade associations.
As the premiere eco-sensitive designer, Jillian lends her expertise to the contract, hospitality, and residential design industries. As president of DES-SYN, Jillian draws her inspiration from her past, excitement of current trends and art, and impressive vision for the future. She continues to challenge herself and the interior design industry by doing what she does best: making interior design personal.
A graduate of the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology and Design in New York City, Jillian was nurtured by the design industry’s most celebrated talents to become the designer she is today. Being surrounded by creative minds and in a vibrant city of endless opportunity, there was no limit to Jillian’s talent. It was there she explored her capabilities, watched her potential grow, and developed her craft. Jillian’s passion for thoughtful design is evident in every aspect of her character and philosophy.
DES-SYN is the recipient of numerous national awards, including being named New American Home Interior Design Firm in 2002. Also to Jillian’s credit, her design has won the coveted National’s Gold Award in 2004. Because of her eco-sensitive commitment to interior design, in 2006 DES-SYN was awarded the Eco Manor project, the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified residence in the Southeast.
