Healthy Living IDEAS Award
Jessica Drummond, DCN, CNS, PT, NBC-HWC is the founder and CEO of The Integrative Women’s Health Institute (IWHI) and the bestselling author of Outsmart Endometriosis. A leading authority in women’s pelvic health, clinical nutrition, and integrative lifestyle medicine, she brings 22 years of clinical experience to pioneering conservative, root-cause approaches for complex pelvic health conditions, hormonal imbalances, chronic pain, and invisible disabilities.
Dr. Drummond holds a BA in Biology from The University of Virginia, a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Emory University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition from Maryland University of Integrative Health.
She began her career as a licensed physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor rehabilitation. Working directly with clients suffering from conditions like endometriosis, vulvodynia, and bladder pain syndrome, Dr. Drummond quickly recognized that physical therapy alone could not fully resolve multi-system chronic inflammation and nervous system dysfunction. Driven by a deep desire to help women who often felt dismissed by conventional medicine, she expanded her clinical foundation into functional medicine, clinical nutrition, and health coaching as a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).
Her professional trajectory was also profoundly shaped by her personal journey with complex chronic illness and invisible disabilities. Experiencing firsthand the unpredictable daily physical toll, exhaustion, and challenges of living with invisible disabilities gave her a rare, compassionate lens into her clients’ realities. This personal connection transformed her clinical practice into an empathetic, holistic paradigm rooted in validation, pacing, and sustainable healing.
Through her clinical programs and educational initiatives, Dr. Drummond translates complex research on gut health, nervous system regulation, and chronic pain into practical, everyday wellness strategies tailored for navigating invisible disabilities:
- Nervous System Regulation: Incorporating somatic practices, breathwork, and vagal nerve activation to soothe autonomic reactivity and down-regulate chronic pain pathways.
- Functional Nutrition & Gut Health: Targeting systemic inflammation, supporting gut barrier integrity, and optimizing the microbiome to boost energy and immune resilience.
- Pacing & Adaptive Daily Habits: Establishing sustainable routines around gentle movement, sleep hygiene, and stress management that adapt to the shifting energy limits of living with an invisible disability.
At the heart of Dr. Drummond’s work is a dedicated commitment to empowering both clients and practitioners. A sought-after international speaker on integrative pelvic pain management, natural fertility options, optimal hormone health, menopause, and female athlete nutrition, her educational programs now reach clients and professional students in over 60 countries. By equipping clinicians with evidence-based lifestyle medicine and functional nutrition tools, Dr. Drummond continues to build a global community dedicated to restoring vitality, hope, and dignity to those navigating complex invisible disabilities.
