Neuro Invisible Award

Dr. Sam Shay, DC, IFMCP, is an accomplished functional medicine clinician, neuro invisible advocate, and educator dedicated to bridging complex neurological science with practical community understanding. Holding a Doctorate in Chiropractic along with advanced training in functional neurology, functional medicine, acupuncture, and genetic analysis, Dr. Shay translates intricate genetic and neurological data into actionable, life-changing wellness roadmaps. His clinical work empowers neuro invisible individuals to move out of survival mode and cultivate lasting health, vitality, and true thriving.

Dr. Shay’s deep passion for helping others stems directly from his own arduous, multi-decade journey with invisible disabilities and neurodivergence. Beginning at age six amidst his parents’ traumatic divorce and compounded by severe school bullying, he endured a complex web of chronic health issues, including adrenal fatigue, insomnia, digestive disorders, anxiety, and chronic pain. Navigating life as an unassisted youth with Asperger’s syndrome and ADHD, he turned to sugar and video games to cope, battling addictions that lasted 15 and 25 years respectively. Driven by a determination to heal himself, Dr. Shay spent over two decades studying health and human physiology to overcome his struggles and uncover the fundamental pillars required for physical and neurological recovery.

Transforming his personal recovery into a global mission of service, Dr. Shay has reimagined advocacy by combining high-level clinical expertise with creative storytelling. Beyond his online functional medicine practice, he created the viral stand-up comedy special, “NeuroSpicy: Love, Life, and Comedy on the Spectrum.” Through therapeutic humor and “edutainment,” Dr. Shay destigmatizes the daily realities of living with ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and other neuro invisible challenges. By pairing rigorous health science with relatable humor, he builds a powerful bridge of empathy that validates individual struggles and fosters a celebrated community of neurological uniqueness.
