Impact Award
Izabella Wentz, PharmD, FASCP, is a board-certified clinical consultant pharmacist, New York Times bestselling author, and passionate advocate for individuals living with invisible disabilities. Known globally as “The Thyroid Pharmacist,” she has dedicated her career to autoimmune education, thyroid health awareness, and empowering patients to navigate complex, chronic conditions through transformative, patient-led health protocols.
Dr. Wentz’s work is deeply informed by her personal experience. In her twenties, while working as a clinical pharmacist, she began experiencing a complex array of debilitating, unexplained symptoms, including chronic fatigue, severe brain fog, hair loss, digestive issues, and joint pain. Like millions living with invisible disabilities, her early symptoms were frequently dismissed or attributed to stress and burnout.
After ten years of searching for answers, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. Facing a conventional healthcare model that offered limited solutions for addressing the root causes of her decline, Dr. Wentz embarked on a journey to heal herself. Driven by a deep personal desire to ensure others would not have to face the same isolation, frustration, and delay in care, she dedicated her life to investigating the underlying drivers of autoimmune disease.
Applying her extensive background in pharmacology, Dr. Wentz conducted rigorous medical research and clinical self-experimentation. She successfully bridged complex clinical pharmacology with accessible functional medicine, developing root-cause resolution strategies that address nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities, gut dysbiosis, environmental toxins, and stress-response dysregulation.
Through her bestselling books—including Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause, Hashimoto’s Protocol, and Adrenal Transformation Protocol—and her educational platform at ThyroidPharmacist.com, she created accessible, actionable roadmaps for systemic chronic health management.
At the core of Dr. Wentz’s career is a commitment to service and validation. Understanding that autoimmune disorders are often invisible to family, friends, and clinicians, she has focused on equipping patients with the tools to become informed advocates for their own care. By providing evidence-based educational resources and fostering a supportive global community, Dr. Wentz has empowered hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to better understand, manage, and overcome the challenges of living with invisible disabilities.
