My name is Kaitlyn McInerney. In 2017 I was in a car accident that left me with a Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Concussive Syndrome, Aphasia, and Pseudoseizures. Since then I have had to re-learn how to walk, talk, read, write, and figure out how to navigate my new way of life. Since my recovery and rehab journey started, I have been spending my time working to spread and raise awareness for people living with chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities. I’m excited to be a part of a community that celebrates ABILITY at all levels, promotes DIVERSITY, and insists on INCLUSION.
I am currently in college studying Psychology and Human Services. I wish to eventually earn my Masters Degree and become a Disability Rights Advocate. I work as a PTA at a rehabilitation hospital that helps treat patients who are in need of stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, cardiac, musculoskeletal, and pulmonary rehab. I am on the board of directors for the Capital Region Classic nonprofit that works to raise awareness and support research in the fight against Breast Cancer and Muscular Dystrophy. And I am currently the Awareness Coordinator for Fight Like A Warrior, which is a non-profit that works to unite, empower, and advocate for those fighting health conditions around the world.
