National Multiple Sclerosis Society - National Disability ID Supporter - Invisible Disabilities AssociationJoyce M Nelson is the 2009 recipient of the IDA Impact Honors Award. Joyce was chosen based upon her leadership as President and CEO of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and by leading the charge in helping people living daily with Multiple  Sclerosis through local and national education, research and support.

Born in Chicago, Joyce received her bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education from North Park University. She began her 26-year National MS Society career in the Society’s Northern California Chapter. Joyce became President and CEO of the Society in 2005.

Receiving the award upon Joyce’s behalf was Kim Koch, associate vice president of Family and Support Programs for the National MS Society.
