halolearyHal O’Leary is the 2009 recipient of the IDA Volunteer Honors Award. Hal was chosen based upon his volunteerism as the Founder of the National Sports Center for the Disabled, as the President of the Shining Stars Foundation and in leading countless other volunteers to bring care, encouragement and compassion to people living daily with disabilities as well as to their friends and families.

Hal is the founder and director of NSCD (National Sports Center for the Disabled) in Winter Park, Colorado. For the last 30 years, Hal has traveled extensively setting up Adaptive Ski Programs around the world. He was inducted into the Ski Hall of Fame in 1992 and has received numerous humanitarian awards throughout his career. He is a consummate master at helping people to believe in their own abilities – and ultimately in themselves.
