Legacy Award

LaFawn Biddle’s profound commitment to supporting individuals who are hard of hearing or deaf stems directly from her personal life. Both of her daughters, Belinda and Barbara, and three of her five grandchildren were born with a hereditary form of hearing loss. This deeply personal experience instilled in her a fervent passion for advocating for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. Recognizing the critical importance of early identification and intervention, LaFawn has consistently emphasized that timely treatment is crucial for individuals with hearing loss to live full and normal lives, turning her family’s challenges into a powerful motivation for widespread advocacy.

Throughout her distinguished career, LaFawn Biddle has been a formidable force in the philanthropic landscape of Denver and beyond, dedicating herself to a multitude of charitable causes, particularly in healthcare and child welfare. Her extensive volunteer efforts include leadership positions in prominent organizations such as the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell), where she was instrumental in co-founding the Colorado Chapter in 1993. She has also served with Friends of Nursing, raising funds for nursing scholarships, and contributed significantly to the Adventist Hospitals, including Porter, Littleton, Porter Hospice & Hospice of Peace. Her dedication also extends to organizations like Bessie’s Hope, which enhances the lives of nursing home elders, and the Tennyson Center for Children, showcasing her broad commitment to community well-being.

LaFawn’s extraordinary dedication has been widely recognized, including receiving the 2015 “Hearing is Believing” Award from the Invisible Disabilities Association (IDA) and the 2025 IDA Legacy Award for her unwavering support. Notably, for over the past 11 years, LaFawn, often through “Triple B,” has provided critical, sustained organizational support to the Invisible Disabilities Association, consistently appearing as a “Sponsor Champion” for their annual fundraising events, which are vital to IDA’s operations and expanded programming. She also co-founded the Institute for Life & Care, an organization dedicated to strengthening those who serve others in the community, achieving significant results across Colorado. Furthermore, the Colorado Chapter of the A.G. Bell Association established “The LaFawn Biddle Award” for Outstanding Service in her honor in 1996, cementing her legacy as a tireless advocate and an inspiring example of generosity and impactful leadership in the non-profit sector.
